Description
1.Hot spots, amazing view, Faros lighthouse Akrotiri, Profitis Ilias
Built by a French company in 1892, it’s considered one of the most beautiful of the Cycladic Islands and a unique point to watch the sunset. Standing on the edge of a high cliff right above the sea, its position is ideal for taking panoramic pictures and admiring Santorini's famous Caldera from a different point of view.
The highest spot of the island (567 meters) is located between Pyrgos and Kamari. The Mountain's name is Profitis Ilias (Prophet Elijah), coming from the Monastery with the same name on its peak. From this vantage point, you will enjoy a striking view of the entire island, from the patchwork agricultural plains to the hilltop village of Oia.
2.Imerovigli, Firostefani
Imerovigli in Santorini is a picturesque village situated in the center-west part of Santorini, only 3.5 km away from the center of Fira town the island's capital. It also abstains just 1 km from Firostefani village.
Geographically, it comprises a continuation of Fira and is considered one of the most beautiful balconies of the Aegean. Due to its location above a cliff, it provides its guests with breathtaking views of the sea, as well as the caldera and the volcano.
The village of Firostefani is located on the north side of Santorini, on a location between the two famous villages of Fira and Imerovigli. Officially, this location is perceived as a separate village however, the truth is different. In reality, this location is the extension of the capital village, the infamous Fira of Santorini. Due to the fact that Firostefani is situated on the highest point of Fira, this settlement’s name can be translated as the Crown of Fira. In Greek language, Stefani means crown, therefore it is the Crown of Fira.
The village is one of the most stunning locations on the Island and this is the reason explaining its increased popularity from both, locals and visitors. It offers breath taking panoramic views over the Island and over the caldera. Visitors are able to find a great variety of accommodation options, fine restaurants, bars and many other options for leisure and relaxation. Even high ends standards and needs can be met in Firostefani, as the Island is a famous and ideal destination for the world’s celebrities.
3.Hidden Santorini ( villagges )
The Pyrgos Kallistis, such as the full name of the village is meaning the most beautiful tower, is the old capital of the island and the newest castle of the Kasteli (castle cities built during the 15th and 16th century). The medieval aura remains alive in the streets and in the shadow of the steeples of the many churches of the village. A walk to the Pyrgos village will bring you closer to an important piece of the history of the island.
Megaloxori is one of the most quaint villages of the island with typical and classical Cycladic houses dug into the volcanic rock. The scenery includes white washed tower bells, underground caves and churches with blue domes. Wander through the narrow pathways of this non touristy settlement, enjoy your Greek coffee at the pebble stone square and get involved with local lifestyle & culture.
In the centre of Emporio, is the best preserved castle of the island. It was built around 1450 and was the most "commercial" of all the castles, as the market of the island operated there, with the largest traffic of products. Hence the name. Walking through Kastelli, in the narrow streets with the houses stuck to each other, the small doors and even smaller windows, painted in soft earthy colors, is a favorite habit. The castle, as well as almost all the houses in the area, are inhabited.
4.Volcanic Beaches
Santorini island is a prominent destination, famous for its volcanic activity and the extraordinary black beaches that are a unique spectacle for all its visitors!
The Red Beach of Santorini is without a doubt one of the most stunning and interesting beaches on the island, as it stands out for its color!
5.Akrotiri prehistoric city
It is one of the most important prehistoric settlements of the Aegean. The first habitation at the site dates from the Late Neolithic times (at least the 4th millenium B.C.). During the Early Bronze Age (3rd millenium B.C.), a sizeable settlement was founded and in the Middle and early Late Bronze Age (ca. 20th-17th centuries B.C.) it was extended and gradually developed into one of the main urban centres and ports of the Aegean. The large extent of the settlement (ca. 20 hectares), the elaborate drainage system, the sophisticated multi-storeyed buildings with the magnificent wall-paintings, furniture and vessels, show its great development and prosperity. The various imported objects found in the buildings indicate the wide network of its external relations. Akrotiri was in contact with Crete but also communicated with the Greek Mainland, the Dodecanese, Cyprus, Syria and Egypt. The town's life came to an abrupt end in the last quarter of the 17th century B.C. when the inhabitants were obliged to abandon it as a result of severe earthquakes. The erruption followed. The volcanic materials covered the entire island and the town itself. These materials, however, have protected up to date the buildings and their contents, just like in Pompei.
6.Tomato Industrial Factory
On the beach of Vlychada in Santorini, with the impressive volcanic rock formations, the Tomato Industrial Museum “D. Nomikos” with its characteristic chimney that dominates the lunar landscape, narrates stories, not only about the business history of Nomikos’ family, but also about time, memories and the inhabitants of the island.
The old tomato factory D. Nomikos in Vlychada was transformed in 2014 into a modern Industrial Museum to offer its visitors a flashback to the past, following the procedure of cultivation, processing and production of small-fruited tomatoes. The small-fruited Santorini tomato, a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) product since 2006, is one of the most famous and traditional products of Santorini.
At the Museum the visitor learns the traditional methods of cultivation followed by the tomato farmers of Santorini, the history of island and its inhabitants and discovers their traditions. The Museum’s exhibition includes processing machines from 1890, old factory manuscripts, old tools, the first labels, as well as audiovisual material with videotaped stories of people who used to work in the factory.
The Museum’s visit includes an audio tour in five (5) languages, a film screening with stories of old workers, a tasting of tomato paste and last but not least a souvenir can that he/she closes in an old sealing machine.

The exhibition is structured in four units, referring to the history of research at Thera, the geology of Thera, the island's history from the Late Neolithic to the Late Cycladic I periond (early 17th century B.C.) and the heyday of the city at Akrotiri (mature Late Cycladic I period, 17th century B.C.). In the last unit, in particular, various aspects are presented, such as the plan and architecture of the city and its organization as an urban centre, the emergent bureaucratic system, the development of the monumental art of wall-painting, the rich and diverse pottery repertoire, the elegant jewellery, the reciprocal influences between vase-painting and wall-painting, and the city's and the island's complex network of contacts with the outside word.
The exhibits include fossils of plants that flourished before the human habitation of Thera and archaeological objects. Among the earliest pieces are Neolithic pottery, Early Cycladic marble figurines, Early Cycladic pottery, including interesting pieces of the transitional phase from Late Cycladic II to Late Cycladic III period (Kastri group) from the Christiana islets and Akrotiri (3300-2000 B.C.) -Middle Cycladic pottery with a series of impressive bird jugs, many of them decorated with swallows - from Ftellos, Megalochori and Akrotiri (20th-18th century B.C.), and Early Cycladic metal artefacts from the last two sites.
The exhibition endeavours to sketch the course of Thera in prehistoric times, through selected finds from the thousands in the storerooms. This was a dynamic and creative course which established the city at Akrotiri as one of the most important Aegean centres during the 18th and 17th centuries B.C.
