Assyrtiko is the most dominant variety, followed by two other varieties Athiri and Aidani. Red varieties Mandilaria and Mavrotragano cover about 20% of all vineyards. Visit one winery (4 glasses wine).
3.FIRA
Since located at a 400m altitude on the western edge of the caldera, the village is perched above a cliffside, offering panoramic views of the sea to locals and visitors alike.
The houses there are typically Cycladic and cubic-shaped, with low ceilings, whitewashed walls, and blue-painted details. Even though Fira is continuously expanding, the locals have managed to preserve its picturesque atmosphere; even its most recently built hotels retain a traditional style, making the settlement a prominent example of authentic Santorinian architecture.
4.OIA sunset
Oia, pronounced Ia, is the most visited village in Santorini and the second largest after Fira, the island's capital town.
Oia lies in the northern part of the caldera, 12 km away from Fira.
The village is located above an impressive cliff overlooking the volcano and the island of Thirassia.
The settlement dates back several centuries; it was likely built in the 15th century and is still home to the ruins of a Venetian Castle. It has become globally famous for its authentic Cycladic beauty, whitewashed houses, labyrinth-like alleys, and amazing hotels, even though the number one thing, Oia is known for is its magical sunset.
Hundreds of people gather every evening to watch the sun setting above the Aegean Sea and capture the most beautiful sunset in Greece
